Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has unveiled the launch of the Commissioner’s Ambassador Program, a new effort featuring 12 former players who will participate in Major League Baseball programs, represent the game at MLB events and support the league’s international growth, among other responsibilities.

José Ramírez was delighted when he visited the ballpark that bears his name, José Ramírez Field at Clark Field, the newest donation from Ramírez and Cleveland Guardians Charities for local youth to enjoy. The all-turf field will serve as the home park for the Lincoln-West High School baseball team and the Cleveland Guardians Nike RBI baseball teams.

The Yankees partnered with New York City Public Schools and the Bronx Community Foundation to host a Back-to-School Resource Fair for families and students in Bronx School District 7 and Bronx School District 9. More than 20 organizations joined, providing resources to students and families, including city programs, non-profit organizations and corporations.

Mental health is as important as it has ever been for young athletes. At the recently completed Nike RBI World Series, players’ mental health moved to the forefront. MLB held its first mental wellness activity day for the eight participating teams.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol was joined by third baseman Yoán Moncada during an on-field pregame ceremony in accepting the Bobby Murcer Award from the Baseball Assistance Team. It seemed only fitting Grifol was there for the presentation, considering the first-year manager also is in his first year as part of B.A.T.’s board of directors.

Dr. Kensa Gunter, a licensed clinical and sports psychologist based in Atlanta, spoke to players at the Hank Aaron Invitational about the importance of mental health and how they can take better care of themselves. For young athletes to improve their mental health, she emphasized the importance of communication and developing health habits like meditation.
